This section of the portfolio looks at my expertise and examples of ways that I have shared this with the profession. Sharing something has always been something that for me comes, fast, furious, and often. My former students have all heard at the last class about my lifetime guarantee. It simply is that if they ever feel that they have a need about not just the course material, but for anything that they think I could be helpful with, to call, e-mail, or write to me. They have all learned that one thing I am compulsive about is answering every e-mail unless something major occurs before I go to bed each night. My wife has found me more than once getting ready to send a response back with 38 pages of nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn from falling asleep with my nose on that key. I think I have found a kindred spirit there in Dr. Livermore, whom I have been corresponding with about my dissertation at 2 in the morning. I used to keep a count of how many people I have worked with through the years who have called me teacher, instructor, professor, maven, and even God, or a variety of other names for a person imparting knowledge to the world. It was up in the thousands, as any good teacher after 27 years should have. There are very few be all and end all experts in the world (okay there is Dr. Smith and Dr. Hughes.) In reality this area is looking at expertise more than being “the” expert.
